Neapolitan Coffee Maker 1-2 Cup Size - Stainless Steel - Made in Italy Review

Neapolitan Coffee Maker 1-2 Cup Size - Stainless Steel - Made in Italy

This stove-top coffee (or espresso, I used it to make coffee) maker is wonderful. It's a perfect melding of design and function - streamlined and efficient, while lovely to look at.
I was so sad when the handle began to come off, requiring soddering, but would most definitely recommend and purchase this product again. Prior to the Ilsa Neapolitan I had the Bialetti which was a BUST - replaced twice, plastic parts broke, a poor example of Italian coffee making design, or rather, over-produced and marketed in the U.S., whereas this Ilsa product is singular.

These Neapolitan coffee makers feature classic design and are crafted from high quality stainless steel. Neapolitan pots use a very traditional brewing process often referred to as the "flip drip" method; water is added to one half of the pot, then fine ground coffee is placed in the stainless steel filter basket and then the pot is assembled and placed on the stove. Once the water begins to boil the pot is removed from the stove and flipped over, allowing the hot water to drip down through the ground coffee. 4 sizes available Made in Italy

Vev Vigano 8199 Vev Vigano Kontessa Inox 12-cup Espresso Pot Review

Average Reviews:

I've been using a cheap aluminum espresso maker forever - the kind your parents probably used. I had issues with the interior corroding and decided to try the Vev 12-cup - and I can't believe the difference. Same beans, same grind - but a completely different taste. I had no idea just switching to a different pot could make such a difference...it really was night and day. Only gripes are that assembling it to get a leak-proof seal seems a little challenging, and although it's labeled 12 cups, I get about 16oz. per brewing.

Replacement Gaskets & Screen for 6 Cup Moka Express Review

Replacement Gaskets and Screen for 6 Cup Moka Express
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a 6 cup moka express and a Brikka, they are both excellent but the Brikka produces a lot of crema which is the main reason I bought it after buying the Moka express.
The moka express is still working fine after 6 months of use, no leakages ..nothing, but the Brikka started leaking after only three months of use, I guess it's because of the high pressure it produces, so it was time for a gasket change.
I searched AMAZON for a Brikka gasket but couldn't find any, this was the closest I found, I swapped my Mokas gasket with the Brikkas and it worked fine, so I ordered this and it was a perfect fit, you just need to keep it tightly closed for a while so that the gasket takes the shape of the coffee filter. Now your set for great espresso.

Bialetti Moka Junior Express 6-Cup Coffeemaker Review

Bialetti Moka Junior Express 6-Cup Coffeemaker
Average Reviews:

My wife and I have been spending a pretty penny at the local coffee shop, so I began looking for inexpensive home alternatives. Most of the coffee snobs claim you have to purchase a $200+ machine and $150+ grinder to have a decent cup of espresso. I turned instead to the frugal Italians. They did invent the stuff, afterall. My Bialetti Moka Express coffee pot came this afternoon. I was a little concerned that a $20 pot might not meet the high standards of the gourmet beverages wifey and I have become accustomed to. I was wrong. The brew made by this ingenious little pot is a little weaker than "pumped" espresso and lacks the foamy cap (crema) that all the snobs rave about, but mixed with some hot, frothed milk and a bit of chocolate syrup I couldn't tell the difference between Bialetti and Seattle's Best.
This rich brew comes from a tiny little aluminum contraption with no moving parts, no electronic gizmos, no pump handle and virtually no wait time or clean-up. You just fill, brew and pour. It's that simple. Its base only covers half of the stovetop's smallest eye and I expect it will be easy to store due to its diminuitive size. I've already had three cups of homemade mocha today, and I've only had the pot since noon! *jitter jitter* The point is this: If you're a coffee lover who is bored with Folgers from a Mr. Coffee drip machine or is spending way too much at Starbucks, the Moka pot is an inexpensive and easy-to-use alternative with excellent results.

Villaware Aromatico Stovetop Espresso Maker - 2 cup Review

Villaware Aromatico Stovetop Espresso Maker - 2 cup

It's a stainless moka. Sizes for espresso makers are measured in espresso shots, like what you'd get at starbucks. Two cups is 2oz. It takes some skill to use one of these. Start with espresso ground coffee. I like a full city roast rather than burnt black espresso roast. Less bitter. Personal preference. Preparation: you are trying to do this without getting the coffee hotter than necessary. The grounds cup should be full of espresso but not tamped. I boil water first, fill to the first line, put the holder in, screw the whole thing shut using a potholder on the bottom part, and then put the machine on a low burner, carefully keeping the handle away from the heat. You can learn why I do it exactly this way by doing it differently if you like. I've done a lot of experimentation. I like the espressos I get from my giant machine better, but I travel a lot and I bring one of these with me all the time. Stainless is nicer than aluminum because it can go through the dishwasher, doesn't fill up with weird guck if you don't clean it right away, and the top doesn't get hot as fast which helps keep your espresso from boiling which is good.

Bodum Chambord 5-Ounce Milk Frother Review

Bodum Chambord 5-Ounce Milk Frother
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product froths milk very nicely and if you like extra frothy milk it is an excellent product. And on this basis alone easily worth five (5) stars. Clean-up and maintenance is a snap as the bottom portion of the frother is easily disassembled and cleaned. I purchased this as a replacement to the previous generation of Bodum Frothers and have found the following challenges while using this product:
a) while frothing the pour spout isn't properly covered by the cap and on occasion foamy milk spills onto the kitchen counter
b) the meshing seems better suited for a French press, which means separating the foam for a pretty cup display is a bit of a challenge (hint, don't use slotted portion of the cap, just pull the entire plunger mechanism out and use a spoon to separate the foam)
c) HOT WHILE HANDLING: admittedly I like my milk as close to burnt without burning, so this sucker is very hot when coming out of the microwave and this is my primary complaint. The previous version had a nice handle connected to the glass easy for gripping the smoking hot vessel while frothing milk. I still have not found a tolerable solution to this.
Good product and does what it says it will do. But if you like really hot milk for frothing you will need to find a solution for holding the hot glass in hand. Otherwise, a really good product.

Aerolatte 20 Mooo Milk Frother with Case Review

Aerolatte 20 Mooo Milk Frother with Case

It works very well for frothing milk for cappuccinos and lattes. The kids enjoy using it for blending drink powders in their beverages. The Aerolatte is easily to clean and store in a drawer too. For the price you can have a couple on hand. I also like that the batteries last a long time especially for how often we use it. I would recommend this product for those that do not have counter space for a cappuccino machine and for those who have kids that enjoy well blended chocolate milk!

Aerolatte 1 Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chrome Review

Aerolatte 1 Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chrome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I must admit, when I first heard of these immersion frothers, I was very skeptical. I had tried many frothers, cappuccino machines with built in frothers (work great first 2 times, then they always clog) and plunger frothers (can you say carpal tunnel syndrome??) etc. After much time AND much effort, there was very little reward, almost no froth and much frustration, not to mention cleanup. I tried the plunger types repeatedly to the point where I was sure I'd have blisters. Did I mention having to disassemble & clean all the frother parts after? :o)
So began my quest for an easy, effective way to obtain cappuccino style froth for my morning java. I searched java junkie message boards and decided to give the Aerolatte a try. I couldn't have been more amazed and pleased.
This little gadget runs on 2 AA batteries (included) and comes with a metal counter stand so it's easily accessible. I unboxed it and gave it a whirl, seemed sturdy and surprisingly fast. Now for the coffee test. Hmmm. So I brewed a pot (french press) of strong coffee and poured a little half & half in my mug and let 'er rip. All I can say is AWESOME!! I was totally shocked at how quick and easy the Aerolatte whipped it into froth. Seriously, comparable to the froth from Starbucks. I couldn't believe it.
The instructions recommend skim or low fat milk, which also frothed up just as thick and rich. Wow!!!! When you are finished, run the unit under under the faucet or in a cup of water to clean. Incredibly cool that you create the froth right in your coffee mug. Simple as that, no extra equipment to clean.
Be brave, experiment a little. I prefer heating my mug with sugar & half & half in the microwave for 30 seconds, froth for about 30 seconds & pour in coffee. Voila Coffee house quality cappuccino and no pots or tubes to clean. Pretty spectacular!
Details: Gotta admit, the stand that arrived with mine is cool to look at, very high-tech, but poorly designed & a tad annoying as you need 2 hands to remove the frother or put it back in. Ok, but not ideal. Luckily, Aerolatte must have realized this, as they have since redesigned the stand & replaced with an even cooler (hopefully more functional) design.
The battery life is excellent (at least 4 weeks of daily use), however I would recommend investing in rechargeable batteries and charger, as the unit is much more efficient and faster with strong batteries.
My first Aerolatte burned out after a little over a year of heavy usage. I loved it so much I purchased another. The price is reasonable as my unit was packaged with the unit, stand and matching shaker for toppings (cinnamon, cocoa, etc)
Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed! Bravo Aerolatte

Bodum Shin Bistro 4-Ounce Milk Frother Review

Bodum Shin Bistro 4-Ounce Milk Frother
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my Bodum frother for about three years (older model than this one, black plastic top) and have had no problems with it other than my husband hitting the top rim with something and chipping the glass. I smoothed it out with an emery board nail file and it is fine, but that prompted me to look on Amazon to see if they still sold them so that I could order a backup but they are a little pricey now; I think I paid only about $10 for mine.

Many people have criticized this product because the glass broke and it seems many people are using metal spoons with it. To me it is common sense when dealing with a thin glass product such as this to use a plastic utensil if you need one. One of those long handled plastic spoons like you get at an ice cream shop work well. I usually just pour my froth out and wait a few seconds with a couple of little shakes which gets most of it out.
I always heat the milk (or half & half which I use most of the time) in the microwave first right in the beaker, then do the pumping and have had no problems doing it that way. I actually think heated milk froths better and creates a finer froth. Many people are under the false impression that heated milk won't froth but I think this is because most of the instructions on frothing are for espresso machines where it is always suggested to use very cold milk before steaming and frothing. But this is because of the heating factor with the hot steam. You have to use cold milk or you won't have enough time to froth before the milk reaches the ideal temperature. If you used preheated milk it would quickly overheat using hot steam to froth. So I think because of this many people assume that you need cold milk for any kind of frothing.
My Bodum has held up extremely well over the years that I have used it but I am careful with it and never put it in the dishwasher. I always immediately rinse both the wand and beaker, fill with a little warm water and detergent, then pump a few times to disperse the detergent. I then rinse well and air dry. I rarely take it apart to clean. Once in awhile I use a very soft brush to clean the screen.
This little frother is both convenient and stress free, no worrying about timing, or temperature, as with the espresso machine wands. You just pump for as long as you want until you're happy with the volume of your froth, which you can easily see because of the clear glass.

I could not resist trying this method of making espresso. You know you can spend alot trying to get a decent product and I have not been disappointed with the practically inexpensive Bialetti. The first attempt was successful and that told me this was for me....the bonus milk frother made more froth that an old steamer frother I used to have. There are a few tricks with the frother(1% milk by itself not so good but add some half and half to the milk and voile'). The milk mixture needs to be heated enough to coat the back of a spoon, pump it quickly and serve. Regarding the espresso maker itself....just don't add any more water than to that line..and oh don't open the lid to look at it until it is done or you will get sputter onto your stove top. To know when the espresso is done just listen you will know when it is done....very quick and yummm.
